✅What is Fine Motor Skills?
Fine motor skills refers to one's ability to control the small movements of the hands and fingers.
✅Children use their fine motor skills when:
-holding small items
-buttoning and zipping
-cutting with scissors
-playing with toys (eg. stacking and building Legos)
-using cutleries and etc
✅Why are fine motor skills important?
Fine motor skills are essential for performing everyday skills as outlined above as well as academic skills. Without the ability to complete these everyday tasks, a child’s self-esteem can suffer, their academic performance is compromised, and their play options will be very limited. They are also unable to develop appropriate independence for their life skills.
📌In our intervention programme which emphasizes on Learning through Play, fun and engaging activities are implemented while reaching our goals, allowing children to learn while improving fine motor skills and training their attention as well.
